I have a Embest VSS at the moment, but I'll be getting a Beagleboard Rev C4 soon. Of course, it'll come with all cables and the jazz I need, and I have a Toshiba 26 inch TV to hook it up to.
I'm looking to get either a Pandaboard or a Tegra2 next.
So - hello everyone, from the sunny Blue Mountains!
But! As for you're BB RevC. You should not really need to upgrade to Panda to make a media center. Install Angstrom to SD or NAND (nand is far faster) and install XBMC from the repo's or package and run that from your applications menu (LXDE).
Edit: If you're going to replace your RevC, why not add a kernel with overclocking modules, hack the ass out of your revC? OC: @1GHZ and mess with it! Add a small heat sink. I plan to! What I also want to do is change the NAND into Swap Space! Nice and fast!
And the reason for upgrading from the BB to the PB for a media center is to run upscaled output at 1080P. The DSP codecs TI provide for the OMAP3530 only go up to (if I remember correclty) 480p. The CPU struggles to do video decoding for anything higher, even OC'd.
